Drymen Community Trust

Drymen Community Development Trust (DCDT) is a membership organisation for the village, committed to delivering projects to improve the community. DCDT actively seeks engagement and involvement from the community to determine and support key priorities. If you have any ideas for DCDT please submit them via the suggestions page

The work of DCDT

Voluntary directors are responsible for working on projects supported by the community. DCDT applies for grant funding and also helps other groups to achieve their aims; recent examples have included the Charles Crescent Playpark renewal. They also organise an annual village Spring Clean.

DCDT organise the annual 'Piping On the Square' activity and Christmas Tree, with the 'Drymen Advent Windows' event.

Past Projects

DCDT led on various projects including, Refurbishment of Benches, Digital Inclusion, Paths Leaflets and the introduction of a cycle, walking and horse-riding path from Drymen to Milton of Buchanan and will eventually lead to Balmaha, to name a few.

Active Travel

DCDT is working hard to improve Active Travel facilities and general connectivity. Many recommendations listed in the current Active Travel plan have been achieved.

The Village Square

On behalf of the community, DCDT is responsible for the village square. We have made significant improvements with repairs to parking bays (by the butcher), a newly extended pavement area adjacent to the main road, resurfaced path across the green, the introduction of a top-up-tap from Scottish Water and a refurbished bus shelter with a mural showing the start of Rob Roy Way, e-bike charging station and a bike maintenance station. We need around £85,000 to resurface the road around the Square

Village Information

The DCDT Created the Paths leaflet and, together with Drymen Heritage, developed a new Heritage Trail leading from the village square, with accompanying audio by residents.

DCDT has developed this village website for the benefit of all the community and visitors to it. We have also recently introduced new nature panels from RSPB Scotland in the tunnel area by the library.
