Discover Drymen

Discover Drymen is an initiative by Drymen Community Development Trust that has attracted significant grant awards. The awards have helped create this new website and deliver much-needed repairs to the parking bays and pavements on Drymen Square. The project also covers a Heritage Trail for the village.

These projects were canvassed for support in the community by DCDT and received strong support. They encouraged new and renewed memberships that have boosted DCDT member numbers to their highest levels.

All of the projects are still a work in progress and DCDT has pledged to continue fundraising to renew the entire roadway around the Square. Both the Heritage Trail and this website can be expanded and further developed, taking into account any feedback and ideas received from the community. Contact us if you have any feedback or questions.

New Village Website

This website strives to be a resource for all clubs, societies, and organisations, especially those that haven't got an online presence. We hope that this website provides valuable information; especially for those that move into the village as it will hopefully make finding out about Village Life that much easier. For visitors, it will be a helpful resource to help plan a trip.

We are keen to promote all the village shops, hotels, cafes, pubs, restaurants, and businesses. Please shop local as much as you can and support the local economy.

If you would like to provide an update/new content for this website please get in touch.

Funders & Supporters

Nature Scot

Discover Drymen and the Drymen Square repairs is supported by NatureScot, through the Better Places Green Recovery Fund. This grant is for £15,318.

Drymen Community Development Trust

As well as applying for grants, DCDT allocated £3,500 to this project from general funds. These funds come from membership fees and donations, and we are very grateful to all members for their support. We hope you are pleased by what has been achieved this year.

Stirling Council

We were awarded three grants for projects within the Discover Drymen theme from the Stirling Community Fund, totalling £3,700.

National Lottery

We were awarded a National Lottery award of £3,600 from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Friends of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs

The independent conservation and heritage charity for the National Park were quick to support our appeal for funds. They donated a grant of £1,000. Please visit their website and consider joining them. In recent times they helped establish the Tom Weir Statue at Balmaha, revitalised the Trossachs Trail and funded initiatives to grow the population of Red Squirrels in the National Park.

Drymen Community Council

Another very early supporter was Drymen Community Council, also donating £1,000. DCDT works very closely and positively with DCC and are very grateful for their support.

Magic Wee Grants

We received a Magic Wee Grant of £500 from the Post Code Lottery. This contributed towards the development of the Heritage Trail and Walking Tour.

RSPB Scotland

RSPB Scotland has generously designed and produced five information panels about nature in the village and at their nearby reserve at Gartocharn. These can be seen in the tunnel area by the Village Library.

The Work Continues

The next phase will be the complete resurfacing of the path across the Square and the road area around it.
